She learned the fundamentals of being a well-rounded cook and how to run a restaurant. In January 2019, she opened Nightshade in the Arts District of Los Angeles. Being named one of Food & Wine's Best New Restaurant, along with the shrimp toast being highlighted as Dish of the Year, Mei Lin earned a spot as one of GQ Magazine and Eater National's Best New Restaurants in America as well as 2020 JBF Best Chef California & Best New Restaurant Nominations. Chef Mei Lin's Szechuan hot chicken is unequivocally the tastiest. Daybird, her fast-casual spot in Silver Lake, has a menu filled with fried chicken options while paying homage to her Chinese heritage. Chef Nyesha Arrington: Born in Southern California, Chef Nyesha Arrington was introduced early to diverse foods while cooking alongside her Grandmother at a young age. These experiences infinitely shape Arrington's palate development and her ideas about cooking and culture. A graduate of the Art Institute of California in Los Angeles, Nyesha draws from a fine-dining background and has worked with the legendary French Chef Joel Robuchon and Melisse. Nyesha is celebrated for her advocacy of using farm-fresh, locally, and responsibly sourced ingredients. Her greatest enthusiasm will always be diving into the creative process and cooking "Food that Hugs the Soul."
