Here it is folks, after 7 months of hard work and hard earned cash, this beauty is finally on the market. What began as a motor I ran on my boat five years ago is now a one of a kind fully rebuilt/restored 1973 Johnson 50 HP (Long Shaft) outboard. The first thing you will notice is the gleaming white paint job; this comes courtesy of countless hours completely stripping every part of the motor and refinishing it with Standox automotive grade paint. The color is a bright Chevrolet Summit White that can virtually match anything you put it on - a very classy color. The entire powerhead was rebuilt and refinished in a glorious navy blue paint job. The exhaust housing, driveshaft, water pump, and thermostat are all rebuilt or new as well. Furthermore, the gearcase has been completely revitalized which includes rebuilding the oil pump, shifter, and replacing all the seals and bearings. The fuel delivery system is refurbished also, giving you piece of mind this baby is ready to rock when you are. This motor is basically new, and there is probably only one like it in the world, a beautiful classic motor. Runs and shifts like new. This is a rarity of an outboard, truly one-of-a-kind. The price reflects the time, effort and money that went into this fine example of an outboard motor and still, the price may not be high enough. I plan on posting this motor on eBay if your interested. Have a stack of receipts. Now, here is a detailed list of what has been done to this gem of a motor. Engine was rebuilt by honing the cylinders, fitting new rings, bearing, gaskets, and seals. Engine was also completely stripped and painted navy blue with Standox paint. The stator, timer-base, sensor coil, rectifier, power pack, coils, harness, and starter are all new. Outboard stripped and professionally refinished with automotive grade paint. Many trim parts were blasted and painted as well. Carburetors were rebuilt from top to bottom. A new Water pump assembly and thermostat were also installed. New gaskets and seals everywhere you can think of. Oil pump was rebuilt to ensure decades of worry free fun. Gearcase has been overhauled by checking everything and replacing all seals, bearings, and bushings. Remote control rebuilt and refinished, and will soon have a beautiful cover on it. ...and probably forgetting a few things.
