Ever confused about the Zelda Timeline? Here is an in-depth look on how the Legend of Zelda was created and infused into the worldwide franchise that is truly a legend. This is the complete Legend of Zelda Timeline created by GameTrailers - I just put it together. All right goes to them in creation of this video. I'm just putting it together into one video. Version 1.1: Uploaded. Version 1.2: The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds debuts, a sequel to A Link to the Past. Because this is a sequel, it falls under the Fallen Hero Timeline - directly after Link's Awakening. Version 1.3: Hyrule Warriors has been announced for the Wii U, this game is not Zelda canon and will not partake in the timeline. It is simply a spin off game. Version 1.4: Nintendo announces a new game at E3 2015, The Legend of Zelda: Tri-Force Heroes. Eiji Aonuma claims that this game is part of the timeline. The game takes place several years after A Link Between Worlds and features the same hero. Certain events bring him to the kingdom of Hytopia, where he dresses as he does in order to hide his heroic origins. There's no telling where the other hero candidates come from, but the player character you control is the true Hyrulean hero from A Link Between Worlds. Version 1.5 On March 3rd, 2017, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild debuts. After finishing the game (and many theories later), the timeline placement of this game has now been revealed. We learn that this game takes place where Calamity Ganon has attacked Hyrule multiple times. During an interview conducted by Game Informer, Aonuma confirmed that this game takes place after Ocarina of Time. So where does Breath of the Wild fall in the timeline? This game takes place thousands of years after the events in all three timelines, unifying the timeline back into one. Breath of the Wild hints at all three timelines such as Zelda anointing Link a knight saying - "And have proven yourself worthy of the blessings of the Goddess Hylia. Whether skyward bound, adrift in time, or steeped in the glowing embers of twilight... the sacred blade is forever bound to the soul of the Hero." Zelda is referring to Skyward Sword, Ocarina of Time, and Twilight Princess. Picking up one of the many materials found in Breath of the Wild, you'll notice an interesting description about one of them. Rock Salt refers to a 'Great Sea' at one point that swept over Hyrule hinting at the Adult Link timeline and The Wind Waker. Breath of the Wild has now been confirmed by Nintendo that it unifies all three timelines into one, effectively restarting the entire Zelda timeline. Version 1.6 The latest entry in the Zelda timeline, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom makes its debut. Since this is a direct sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of Wild, it takes directly after it in the timeline making Tears of the Kingdom the latest and most recent entry in the timeline.
