Facebook:   / jigstravels   Instagram:   / ozrvtravels   Walkabout Creek Hotel is a pub in north-west Queensland and the address is 30 Wylde St, Mckinlay QLD 4823, which was put on the map by a great Australian movie. Which was called Crocodile Dundee., which was released around 1986 and featured the Walkabout Creek Hotel in McKinlay. This place has got a great feeling about this hotel. Once you step into the place you notice all the memorabilia that was from the movie. The campsites are are all level and the ground has a bace called white rock which gives no mess in your van. But a bit Hard on your feet if you don’t wear shoes. Most of the sites are drive through or you just back you van into the required spot. The powered sites have water right next to the where you park and there is water for the Non powered sites too. This Hotel is not a large site but can manage to fit around 10 to 15 vans in there. Very large rigs might find it hard to turn around in there if there is a few Rv’s in there. The toilets and the showers worked well and they are very clean. But please keep in mind the the power goes off out there sometimes. Plus the water too.. yes I know it sounds like a terrible place to visit,,,But its not.. I had a great few nights while I was there. They do have meals out there but its only in the high season. And that’s between Mothers day and Fathers day. This place is dog friendly and the phone reception is fantastic. There is a cell tower right next to the pub. There is also a dump point right across the road. Which can house very very large rigs, please remember there is NO CAMPING in this area. Last time I was there, the fuel station wasn’t open, so please remember to fuel up before you go there. You can see the bar from the movie set, which is in the back shed and even hold ‘the knife’ if you ask the bar staff.. Make sure you stop a drink on your way through and just to have a look at the place. You will love it. The new owners have maintained the rustic feel & atmosphere of the hotel and it is now a tourist attraction.
