Please send questions and comments to [email protected] History and Song Index In August of 1978, Lenny Breau and Buddy Emmons recorded the album "Minors Aloud" in Nashville for Flying Fish Records. The album was released towards the end of the year but the duo did not tour to support it (although they may have played a few gigs in Nashville after the sessions and before the album's release). At that time, Buddy played occasionally with guitarist Danny Gatton in a band called Red Neck Jazz Explosion (which sometimes included Lenny's old pal, fiddler Buddy Spicher). RNJE played a memorable gig at the Cellar Door in Washington DC on December 31st, 1978 that was recorded and released on NRG Records as "Danny Gatton's RedNeck Jazz Explosion (still in print). The band was booked for a return gig at the Cellar Door in late April of 1979 and Buddy invited Lenny, who had just finished recording an album with Claude Ranger and Don Thompson in Nashville, to come to DC to play a set with RNJE at their Cellar Door gig. Danny Gatton was a huge fan of Lenny's and eager to have Lenny sit in. Lenny and the band played two songs from 'Minors Aloud": 'Secret Love' (included here) and ' Killer Joe' .
