We visited Ilfracombe in North Devon , and were shocked by what we saw. Having spent lots of memorable holidays in the area years ago. Ilfracombe today is a fraction of it's former self. The once thriving town centre now has a run down and uncared for feel about it, with boarded up shops and restaurants. And Homeless doorway sleepers. A far cry from the Ilfracombe we once knew. The harbour area has faired better and still retains it's charm but with so many closed down Hotels, it will need a lot of effort to rejuvenate this popular seaside resort.
