Michael's an extraordinary painter. I absolutely love the way he conveys mood, atmosphere, depth and scale. One of the things I noticed about his works, is that many times his lines aren't that organized or straight. Yet the result is beautiful. This goes to show you how much you can PUSH some aspects of the creation, and as long as you got the basics down, the result is phenomenal. 🎨 15 PAINTINGS 🎨 In the video I'm sharing 15 paintings, and going more in depth with the 15th one. What all the paintings have in common is a strong sense of light, shadow, mood and atmosphere. And again - many of them masterfully depict scale. I don't know exactly why I chose that particular painting to review in depth. Some may argue that some of the others are technically more impressive, or just more interesting. But, the painting I chose to review really captured me emotionally, and gave me a feeling of nostalgia, though I'm not sure where that feeling comes from. I immediately knew it's the one I'll focus on. I will also try and recreated it. First in my sketchbook, then perhaps in a larger size. 🎨 TALKING POINTS 🎨 1. The mood and atmosphere. This painting moved me. 2. The warmth, feeling of countryside, relaxing and calm. 3. The composition's perfect. The shadows on the mountainside, together with the buildings in the middle ground. 4. Beautiful sense of distance and scale, conveyed by the blue-ish gray at the top of the mountain. 5. Strong contrasts around the little houses. Blues (shadows) and reds (rooftops) mix together there as well. 6. The fence is leading us in. The beautiful shadow in the foreground helps as well. They both mirror the shape of the mountain ridge, creating an effective eye movement for the viewer. 7. Great "jewels" (details). The people and animals. 🎨 CONCLUSION 🎨 I hope you enjoyed this video, and the series in general. As always, let me know if you have any artist requests.
