The Gauge O Guild, Guildex 2023, Stafford show

The Gauge O Guild's annual exhibition/Convention, Guildex which is the biggest annual event in O Gauge was on at the County Showground in Stafford on the 3rd and 4th September 2023. During the Sunday when I visited they had 13 layouts and 4 small layouts on display and also a live layout build as they was done over the weekend to create a O Gauge layout for a spare bedroom. The layouts on display were as follow Glebe Street (O Gauge - Elgin Model Railway Club) Layout set in the 1960s in urban Glasgow in the North East of the Maryhill area with a terminus station named Sauchtonburn Second Hand Yard (O Scale USA - Arry Dodd) Layout set in a small town in the US Midwest where Railroads services a number of small industries, the layout has track, buildings etc were recycled from previous layouts Kimble (O Gauge - Leamington and Warwick Model Railway Society) A double track continues loop on a little town named Kimble with sits on a hill with dominated by Knight's Brewery, layout based on the British Railway Midland Region Dovedale (O Gauge - MIOG) Set in the depths of the Peak District in the early 2000s when limestome traffic was on the rise again after the decline of sectorisation Holcombe Brook (O Gauge - Winchester Railway Modellers) Holcome Brook was a terminus of a 3 and a half mile branch line of the East Lancashire Railway's Bury to Accrington line just north of Bury Bolton Street Station. Layout is based on the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway in the early part of the 20th centaury Grafty Green (O Gauge - Tony Walmsley) Layout set in Kent which is a really place but the station is fictional as the sucess of the Keny & East Sussex Railway, Colonel Stephens promoted the Weald of Kent Railways with a line from Headcorn to Sittingbourne but the money ran out when the line reached Grafty Green. Blakecaster ( 7mm Narrow Gauge - Peter Wilson) A terminus of the Staffordshire Moorlands Light Railway with the Railway serving a large country estate in Blakecaster, the layout is also part of the Stafford Railway Circle. York Test Track (O Gauge - York O Gauge Group) A O Gauge test track which had 3 circuits with all tracks can operate in DC or DDC Lapping Works (O Gauge - Matt Stevens) One of the four entries for the small layout competition, set in a small industrial site on the edge of the Black Country in around 1947 which is served by the GWR and a small amount of LMS Itchen End Goods (O Gauge - Brian Wilson) Another entry of the small layouts competition as it show that O Gauge can be build into a micro layout that used to have a passenger station but converted into a goods yard. Wedmore (O Gauge - Exeter O Gauge Group) Wedmore is a large village in North Somerset but the layout represents a fictional branch line off the Somerset and Dorest Joint Railway at Edington Junction Mordaunt Street (O Gauge - Bill Campbell) Mordaunt Street runs parallel to the London Road Extension Lie of the former Caledonian Railway between Strathclyde Junction and London Road Junction in the setting of South East Glasgow Weekend Yard (O Gauge - N/A) Weekend Yard was build over the weekend during Guildex 2023 as this was a live layout build as the plan was to build a O Gauge layout over the weekend which could fit into a spare bedroom, this footage are the results of this live build and filmed after the layout was named Weekend Yard Foxbile Brewery (O Gauge - Colin & Margaret French) A bonus layout which was slipped in during the live build, as it the size of two box files! (Boxfiles is the anagram for Foxbile) A very small shunting layout set in a Brewery, the layout is set in the 1950s Clough Street Sidings (O Gauge - Ian Chippendale) the 3rd entry to the small layouts competition as it represents a Northern urban industrial goods yard with a brewery, scrap yard , coal yard and a engineering works with models from the era in the LMS 1930s.
