More Q & A for potential Royal Marine Commandos.

1. What do you do in an average year in the Royal Marines? This is one of those jobs that every day can be different. the answer to this question is hard it 100% depends on what trade you are and even what unit you are at. 2. How often do you go abroad? Like the question above there is no set amount of time you will go away there are so many factors that will dictate how much and when you go away from whats going on in the world, what specialization your in to what unit your based at. 3. What's life like after training? Lots of recruits loose sight in training of why they are there and forget that once you Finnish training life is completely different. The marines are chilled out once training is finished, yes there will betimes where you work late in to the night and work hard but when your not your mostly keeping fit or spending time with your family. 4. Did you feel confident of passing the Potential Royal Marines Course (PRMC)? Yes. My careers office gave me a fitness plan to follow and i stuck to it. The exercises that you need to do for the tests are really simple and easy to practice with out the need for equipment or weights. Other than a pull up bar you dont need anything to get fit for the PMRC. 5. How do I get in the right mindset for the Potential Royal Marines Course (PRMC)? To get in to the right mindset you need to be prepared and practice the tests before you get to CTC(commando training Center) that will give you the confidence knowing you can pass. You also need to remember why your there and what your trying to achieve. the PMRC is hard and designed that way to give yourself a insight in to training and to allow the pmrc team to assess your suitability for training. its also there not only to test your physical abilities its to see how you interact and get on working as a team. 6. Did you ever think about quitting during training? YES. quite a few times. Any one who's been through the process has at some point during training and for a vast amount of reasons. You need to remember 32 weeks is a long time. Just take it a day at a time and not look too far ahead in training and remember that its the green beret that your trying to achieve. 7. What was your biggest fear during training? Mine personally was not being good enough to pass the various criteria assessments in training. Having said that every test you will be well practiced at before actually being tested. 8. How did you overcome that fear? By listening to what your being told by the instructors and copying it. Pretty simple really. 9. How do I prepare for the endurance course & bottom field on the PRMC? By being really fit. you need to practice a bit of distance running. you don't need to practice the obstacle or even worry about them. There simple and you will be shown and get chance to practice before you do a run through. 10. What's the best way to get fit for the PRMC? The fitness plan on the royal navy website is really good and put together with the sole purpose of getting in to training. There is a plan to get you fit for the pre joining fitness test then one to get you fit for the potential royal marines course and then even one to keep you fit before training. 11. What's the recruitment process like for Royal Marine Officers? There are a few slight differences you still do the recruit tests then you will be allocated to an ACLO ( Area careers liaison officer) and they will talk to you and guide you through the process and
