From the picturesque valley of Eskdale, over the exposed Eskdale Moor, to the majestic area of Wasdale. After a lunch break at Ritson’s bar in Wasdale Head, the return included minor roads and forgotten bridleways and ended with the trail alongside the river Esk. A lot of variety with some hard going in places, including some walking but then some easy off-road trails. Super views as one approaches Wasdale. Wastwater was on form with a stiff wind blowing whitecaps down the lake.
