MAGIC - BMPCC 6K Pro with Canon 10-18mm Test Footage/Film

Some footage I got with friends one winter evening at D Street in Encinitas, CA. I wanted to see how the super cheap Canon 10-18mm would pair with the Blackmagic, and I think it worked out quite nicely! It's a unique look and nice to see something other than Sigma 18-35 footage (lol). The image stabilization is great to have for handheld work and the internal NDs of the 6K make it easy to get the right exposure. Another great thing is how close this lens can focus. I actually could have gotten closer in a lot of the macro shots if I had wanted to. The lens has pretty heavy distortion in the corners, so watch out for that! Pretty typical for cheap wide angle lenses though. Manual focus on this lens is a bit tough due to the tiny focus ting, fly-by-wire feel, and short focus throw. However, since the focal length is so wide and the aperture somewhat slow, the depth of field is pretty forgiving. Paired with a bright 7 inch monitor it works pretty well. If you use stacked filters like I did (listed below), you'll get a little bit of vignetting even when using 82mm versions. It's easily correctable in post, though. You'll also get a little bit of a green cast in the corners from the IR cut filter, but that can also be fixed and is totally worth it to get rid of nasty IR pollution IMO. The Juan Melara BMPCC 6K luts and powergrades are great for getting an "Alexa-like" look out of the camera and are easy to use. It's a pretty saturated look but I think it's quite pretty. I didn't do any adjustments after adding the powergrade other than some minor exposure and vignette correction plus a tiny bit of noise reduction the fire-spinning shots. Filmed in 6K BRAW 12:1 48fps.
