Spitalfields was a notorious Victorian London slum, with dark and dangerous courts and alleys. Here, in the late 1800s, the poor lived in dilapidated houses, alongside criminals. But there were also silk-weavers that clung hopelessly to a withering handicraft. It is these people that were the last vestiges of a time before the decent into dystopia.
