S1 – Ep 217 – Luckhoff – A Free State Town I Never Heard of!

When I was planning our route I saw this place called Luckhoff, not too far from Koffiefontein. This was a Free State town I have never heard of, so that made it a definite must-visit! We had an amazing drive on the gravel road to Luckhoff. We saw donkeys, goats, a tortoise, a secretary bird, zebra, gemsbok, springbok and an ostrich. A truly enjoyable drive this was. On arriving in Luckhoff we took a slow drive through the streets. Here we could see that it was the farming community keeping the town going. We visited the cemetery but it was located next to the dumpsite and there was litter everywhere not to mention the vandalism which has occurred to gravestones, like we've sadly see in many other places too. It was exciting to go searching for the old gunpowder house and finding it made it so worthwhile.
