The Struggles With Disability Pride July is Disability Pride Month. It’s to celebrate the passing of the ADA (Americans with disability Act). But also so much more. Disability is not about “Celebrating becoming or being disabled” It’s about celebrating and being proud of the relentless work of the disability activists who have worked and continue to work and fight for basic rights and equality. It’s about being proud of yourself for showing up everyday, and navigating and ableist and inaccessible world. It’s about being proud of our strong community. But it’s tiring, and disheartening, when companies who promote inclusivity and use disabled talent, don’t show their support during disability pride month. Especially when they have done previous years.
