Christchurch Earthquake (22nd Feb 2011) - our experience in Sumner

On the 22nd of February 2011 we were in Christchurch, just passing through the city on the way south to visit relatives. To fill in a few hours in Christchurch we decided to venture out to Sumner beach and have a coffee and look around the area. While walking in the park by Sumner beach, a 6.3 magnitude, 5 km deep earthquake struck! (the epicenter was only a few kilometers away). The following video was captured as we slowly drove out of Christchurch after the quake. As we drove out we experienced numerous aftershocks and saw some of the earthquake damage first hand. A scary experience!
