3D Scanning is Hard!

I got a 3D scanner for testing with the goal of reverse engineering the cross slide on my lathe. I want to make a stepper-motor mount and thought this would make things easier. I was very wrong. There is a much higher learning curve for 3D scanners than I realized, especially for the geometric objects I'm wanting to scan. This video should give you a realistic expectation of what is involved in learning to use a 3D scanner, along with some of the limitations. I asked the maker to send me a scanner with the only promise from me that I would post a video. I have received no compensation other than a free scanner.
