Ghislain de Marsily is a highly acclaimed, internationally renowned, scientist. He is Professor Emeritus at the University Pierre et Marie Curie, France. He is a pioneer in the development of stochastic hydrogeology and inverse methods. In his childhood, he contracted polio, as a result of which he could not move for a year. Nevertheless, he managed to continue learning and go on to become a hydrologist. For his numerous and groundbreaking achievements, he has received a large number of prestigious awards. He has been awarded highest French medals of honor: Chevalier de la Légion d’honneur and Chevalier de l’Ordre national du mérite. He has been elected as a member of Academy of Europe and Foreign member of US National Academy of Engineering.
