Cleaning your Copper Still - For First use or for Maintenance

This video is one lesson that occurs in most of our Online Practical Training Courses, but we decided to share it due to the large number of inquiries we get via Email or Social Media regarding the cleaning of stills - either for first use, or as part of general maintenance. As part of our COVID-19 Mitigation Strategy, Distillique decided to put our Training Online. We though some people may be interested, but it was more to just enable our business to survive. We definitely did not expect the reaction we have gotten, and the waiting list of people we need to notify. We started to produce the Video Lectures and Training Material for the Online Training Courses during the worst of South Africa's Lockdown. We did this with limited resources - basically what we had available at our homes, as all shops and even Online Trade was closed. Since then we have managed to beg, borrow, source and improvise solutions for lighting, sound, etc. (So do not be surprised if you do the courses and see changes in the quality). All courses relating to Spirit Production (excluding W6 - Tequila and Mezcal) have now been finished. This includes: 1. C10 - Comprehensive Distilling - Over 60 Hours of Lectures and Practicals 2. C1 - Introduction to Distilling (prerequisite for all other courses) - 11 Hours 3. W1 - Brandy and Mampoer (Fruit based Spirits) - 13 Hours 4. W2 - Whisky, Moonshine and Vodka (Grain based Spirits) - 13 Hours 5. W4 - Gin and Botanicals (Infused Spirits) - 10 Hours 6. W5 - Light and Dark Rum (High Brix Spirits) - 12 Hours 7. E1 - Extraction Methods and Essential Oils - 8 Hours 8. W12 - Fruit Wine Making (Homemade Wine) - 13 Hours Other courses are currently being shot, and estimated completion dates are: 1. B1 - Craft Distiller Business Planning - 20 September 2. Y1 - Yeast and Fermentation Foundation (Advanced Yeast Training) - 15 October Other courses to follow in October and November We really wish we could get these courses completed faster and uploaded sooner, but it is physically and practically just not possible. We would like you to have a good experience and learn a lot from the online courses - and to be honest, you might even learn more than during attending an onsite course, as Practicals are completely separated from Theory, hence your attention is not split, and the videos allow us to do more practicals and more different practicals than we could do during onsite training. But we definitely look forward to welcoming you back to Distillique in the near future. For now, stay safe, stay healthy, and keep watching this page for updates.
