Is the iconic irohazaka from jump actually possible, or is it initial d’s biggest gimmick? Now don’t worry if you’re having a bit of deja vu, you’re probably not going insane. Because this is a question that I’ve already tried and failed to answer on my channel before. Let me give you a quick recap.. I loaded up Assetto Corsa's Irohazaka Touge in the yellow mister2 and began descending the slope. I didn’t initially know which corner the jump was actually performed on, so I firstly needed to go on a recon run to scout out potential corners, and decide which i’d try it on. This was my first crucial mistake, and I’ll tell you why a little later. I actually found two corners which seemed suitable for the irohazaka jump, and I set off attempting it. I spent hours attempting the irohazaka jump on these corners, and it wasn’t easy. I’d either not rotate the car enough to set myself up for the jump, and ended up going the hairpin as usual. Or, I’d rotate too much and hit the guardrail. And even if I got the setup right, once I landed, the car just bounced everywhere, and I even yeeted over the guardrail and fell into the assetto corsa netherworld. As a result of my failure, i abandoned the challenge. A few weeks later, I knew I had to try this technique again, I had invested far too much time and effort on that video to abandon it *sunk cost fallacy*. And after a small break, I felt refreshed. As a result, I finally made some headway on the irohazaka jump. I had finally sussed out the technique for lining the car up for the jump. I simply had to drift the previous hairpin and hold off the transition all the way until it was time to do the jump. And that point, I had to rip the handbrake and let weight transfer put in the work. And yes, I managed to successfully do the irohazaka jump. No, just kidding. After hours of attempts over multiple months, I never managed to successfully do an irohazaka jump. My car was just bouncing all over the place upon landing. So, begrudgingly, I made a video, stating the irohazaka jump was in fact, a humongous gimmick, and it wasn’t actually possible. Hit the like, and maybe even subscribe button if you enjoyed the video!
