[TAS] Pokemon Platinum (Glitchless) in

This was my first TAS and my first time speedrunning a Pokemon game so the beginning and middle are terrible. I can't go back and edit my mistakes without redoing the whole TAS as it would mess up the RNG. The beginning cutscene looks really bad because I have to wait for a specific frame to manipulate RNG but looking back I would have optimized it for entertainment purposes. Despite its flaws, this is the fastest TAS I have found for Pokemon Platinum and I hope it gets beaten soon. Note that in this game, your battle RNG seed is determined by the frame you begin the fight, so if you want 3 crits in a row (a 1 in 4096 chance), you would expect to wait for 8192 frames before the battle begins (the RNG seed advances every 2 frames (essentially)). That's over 2 minutes! In earlier Pokemon games, you could manipulate your outcomes each turn by waiting a certain number of frames before choosing a move. This means you would only expect to wait for 96 frames in total (1 in 16 chance * 2 frames to advance RNG * 3 turns). That's less than 2 seconds! For this reason, it is often better to not go for perfect fights in this game because you would wait extremely long before the battle begins. But there are many places where it would have been worth waiting longer before the battle to get better battle RNG. This was due to the fact I had to manually test every seed...so if I want to get 3 crits in a row, I would expect to try 4096 fights, and if each fight takes 30 seconds to test then that's 34 hours of real-life time for a single fight. But in general, my standards increased as I went through the TAS so many of the later fights are perfect (especially if you take into account the time waiting before the fight begins). The total frame count is 711841 which would translate to 3:17:44 if the game ran at 60 FPS. But it actually runs at 59.8261 FPS (thanks for making me aware of that TiKevin83) so the video is 3:18:18.50 (plus that annoying bandicam scene at the end (avi files are capped at 2 GB and the TAS was 23 GB so I had to use Bandicut to join the parts, that's also why you see a few black flickers during the video)). Thanks to -The creators of DeSmuME 0.9.9 (the emulator I used) -werster and the Pokemon speedrunning discord for answering questions and route development -mkdasher, MAP, and RETIRE for lua scripts -scoagogo and crafted for guides -MoneyHypeMike for the attack and defense spreadsheets -pikashy for motivation and knowledge -sporefreak for motivation -Phyrnna De Angelo as I used routing and movement from their Platinum TAS -werster again as I used routing and movement from his real-time speedrun
