In this video, witness the creation of a unique archtop guitar, an instrument that is as much a piece of art as it is a musical instrument. Partially inspired by the works of guitar design visionary Paul Reed Smith and master luthier Paul Languedoc; this project embodies the fusion of traditional craftsmanship with the boldness of modern innovation. 🎸 The Guitar's Genesis: From initial hand-drawn sketches to complex CAD design, 3D modeling, tool path planning and simulation, this guitar represents the harmony of design, engineering, and passion. Crafted from Maine flame birch and curly walnut, its fully hollow body features an ergonomically carved top and back with integral parallel bracing, enhancing both aesthetic appeal and acoustic resonance. The macassar ebony fretboard and Corian inlays add contemporary elegance to the classic design. 🔧 Innovative Techniques and Craftsmanship: In the design of this guitar, I used carbon fiber in a novel way that's both subtle and impactful. This addition, a unique innovation I developed, enhances the guitar's structural strength while improving both aesthetic appeal and acoustic resonance. The carbon fiber also acts as a Faraday cage, effectively shielding the electronic components from electromagnetic interference, ensuring the guitar's sound remains pure and undisturbed. The hand-filed drip-edge brass bridge and nut showcase meticulous attention to detail, embodying the seamless integration of traditional craftsmanship with modern technological insights. 🎨 Sound Design and Customization: Equipped with hand-wound pickups from Planet Tone, this guitar offers a symphony of tonal possibilities. The master 3-way selector and 3 mini-toggle switches allow for over 40 distinct configurations, making it adaptable to a wide range of musical expressions. The carbon fiber sound chamber enhances the natural acoustics, producing a deep, rich resonance with beautiful harmonics, brightened by the brass saddles and nut, and evened out with 11 gauge flat wound strings. 👀 From Concept to Creation: As an inventor, artist, entrepreneur and engineer, I am driven by a passion to create and innovate.
