Cervical Dystonia - Not gone with 510 Units of Botox! PNMD improved it in weeks. Migraines gone too!

For more information http://www.MidwestHeadaches.com Alexandra is a young mother of a toddler, wife of a farmer and a Registered Nurse from rural Missouri. This is her history in her own words: “I have a history of Scoliosis. I had baby in January 2022. First time around mid-April, I noticed the head turning while trying to take photos as a family. By end of May left ear was touching shoulder. Whole head turns to right, if I try to move to left, goes into spasm. If I tuck chin, cannot go past midline. I have noticed that my jaw is much tighter than it used to be. I'm not sure if that is the cause of the neck pain or the result of it. The back of my neck at the base of my skull is the most intense point of my pain, and it is worsened with the wide opening of my mouth such as while yawning. Pain is worse, if I cannot rest my head against anything for long periods of time. Botox injections have made the pain much worse for about 2 weeks after. Pain is better by lying down or being able to rest my head. I have had shoulder, neck, and back pain as well as headaches and migraines since childhood. I thought maybe they were stress related or just normal for me. After giving birth in January 2022, I started to notice overtime that my head was turning to the right and eventually my left ear was pulling down to my left shoulder. By May 2022 I was unable to hold my head upright without support or turn to the left. I thought it may have been related to holding a baby in my left arm frequently and nursing. I tried massage therapy and chiropractic care with no change. I visited an orthopedic doctor that determined nothing was wrong with my spine and suggested a neurologist to evaluate me for Cervical Dystonia. I have seen a Neurologist and was diagnosed with Cervical Dystonia. Dx. in September 2022. He treated me with 2 rounds of Botox injections (Oct. 2022 200 units, Jan. 2023 310 units) with no change. Botox in SCM, back of neck base of skull, both shoulders- levators. The back left side of my scalp burns and hurts at all times and to touch, the left base of my skull/top of my neck has severe stabbing pain if I move too quickly or the wrong way. The left SCM area under my left ear has infrequent radiating pain into my jaw and head. My left neck, shoulder, and down into my shoulder blade are extremely tight and get cramps often. I do have relief from pain when I lay down, but it's often worse when I try getting back up. Sometimes the pain and stiffness is somewhat improved with activity. Leaning forward to stretch the back of the neck muscles helps relieve some of the pain but has made my posture much worse.” Her expectations for the initial TMD / CCMD evaluation visit was just to see if it is even an option. If it is a door we can potentially explore for help. Alex went through detailed diagnostic tests including our unique "Raman CCMD Protocol" of Physiologic Neuro Muscular Dental (PNMD) procedure to determine the optimal jaw and neck alignment. She was then fitted with a neuromuscular fixed orthotic on her lower teeth only for 90 days as a reversible phase 1 treatment. PNMD Fixed orthotic looks like and acts like teeth. She would chew with it, speak with it and live with it 24/7 every second of every day. This is both a therapeutic and diagnostic step. She started noticing improvements very quickly. This is one of the important reasons that we use a PNM Fixed orthotic. It is correcting the jaw alignment truly 24/7, every second of the day. Of course, the key is how accurately the jaw / neck alignment was diagnosed first. Much work goes into using computerized data including surface Electromyography that is one part of the Raman CCMD Protocol to precisely diagnose this jaw / neck position. That is the alignment that the fixed orthotic maintains. Within weeks of Phase 1 Fixed orthotic, her symptoms were improving significantly. . By 90 days Alex reported 50% overall improvement of symptoms. Level of improvement 1. Neck pain - 60%. 2. Headaches - 100%. 3. Fatigue - 75%. Wakes up at 7/10 energy level vs 0/10 pre treatment. Her energy lasts all day. 4. Back pain - 25%. Alexandra is currently in Phase 2 Neuromuscular Functional Orthodontics treatment to eventually move her own natural teeth to support an optimal jaw and neck alignment. That is the power of Physiologic Neuro Muscular Dentistry!
