Available on iTunes: http://bit.ly/seegersloop August 21, 2010 at 9 am Pete Seeger boarded the deck of the Sloop he had built in 1968 with his banjo in hand and ready to record the song he had just written with his long time friend Lorre Wyatt. Pete commissioned The Hudson River Sloop Clearwater to teach the Hudson Valley folks about the beauty of the river and the dangers of taking it for granted. The Clearwater sailed her maiden voyage in 1969 and three years later the Clean Water Act was passed. Fast forward to 2010 when another body of water was in danger. Millions of barrels of crude oil had gushed into the Gulf of Mexico. Ready for action, some of the original Clearwater crew joined by new friends gathered aboard the now weathered Clearwater, armed with their weapons of choice: guitars, banjos and the power of a song.
