Culture Club ~ Time (Clock Of The Heart) 1982 Extended Meow Mix

After "Do You Really Want To Hurt Me" hit big across the world, everyone knew who Boy George was. There was such a rush of singles that spring you could hear three different songs by the group on the radio within an hour! One of those singles , "Time (Clock Of The Heart)" was recorded after the release of their debut album and while it was added to future pressings for a total of 10 songs from second run. However they omitted the song on the sleeve and label but had added the song as the first track on Side 2. So if you ran out and bought new when the soulful reggae of "Do You Really Want..." first hit, this song is not included. It was the second single issued, peaking at #2 unable to overcome that movie theme from "Flashdance" for two weeks. The record label was getting ready to release a second single, but Culture Club had recorded the new song and felt it would be a stronger song than anything else on "Kissing To Be Clever". The executives heartily agreed and issued the single. The third single issued was "I'll Tumble For Ya" proved the band could successfully chose their own singles. It peaked at #9 in the US. Later on that same year, they released their "Colour By Numbers" LP and it gave them their first US #1 hit, "Karma Chameleon". The group faded a bit after that and with the diminishing interest in the band "The War Song" only got to #17. Their last pop hit was "Move Away" in 1986 with the band dissolved. Boy George had a major hit with the Pet Shop Boys produced "The Crying Game" and turned it into a surprisingly hypnotizing #15 pop hit. 1998 got the band back together for a VH1 Storytellers episode and have continued to record and tour, their latest news had the band playing Wembley in December of 2020 and broadcast around the world live streaming in response to the covid pandemic. After the recent ABBA album, it might be fun to hear some new material, I am in the mood for reminiscing you know, new music from old friends?
