Carryology x Aer Tokai Pack - special collaboration version of a fabulous compact, 14L urban EDC bag

The Tokai Pack is a limited edition version of the well-regarded Aer City Pack made in collaboration between the San Francisco-based carry manufacturer Aer and Carryology, the online site for carry enthusiasts. It has most of the strengths of the (pretty awesome already) original, improves on a few key points, and only introduces a few relatively minor tradeoffs in exchange. 00:00 - Introduction 00:53 - Tl;Dr of the Original City Pack 03:38 - Overview of Tokai Pack 04:42 - Tokai vs. City Pack 07:04 - Exterior Materials & Design 12:08 - Load Carriage & Straps 16:26 - Exterior Pockets 20:18 - Front Compartment 26:15 - Main Compartment 29:35 - In Conclusion 30:10 - Also Consider Basic facts: • Dropped back in December 2022 for $239 USD as a special release with Carryology • Available in two different colourways - black and white with the only difference being the colors/materialways Common with the original City Pack: • Main claim to fame: high degree of urban-use organisation in compact but not tiny form factor, coupled with a more ergonomic higher/tighter than usual for Aer carry system makes this bag a joy to use in EDC life especially for folks with a lot of small gadgets and doo dads. • Main weaknesses, also in common with the No real “wide open” capacity means this bag is not great for carrying anything bulky, especially common things like mirrorless cameras, puffy jackets, or bigger headphones. Surprisingly, the original bag doesn’t stand up on its own which normally you would expect for such a clearly heavy/urban-edc use intended bag. Versus the original City Pack: • Has several key improvements: stands up on its own, has an improved key leash, better materials and increased water resistance and frankly looks pretty fashionable in my opinion • Has several areas which on the white variant at least are slightly more disappointing: Interior front organizer panel on the white variant is slightly much harder to use and has inferior visibility, front sternum strap is more annoying to use, and (on the white variant) gets dirty a lot more easily. X50 has less stretch than cordura which makes getting into some pockets and crevices of the bag slightly more frictionful.
