Trooper's Summary: While at the Speedway gas station refueling the patrol car on Tittabawassee Rd and I-675, Troopers observed a vehicle matching the description of a AWIM (assault with intent to murder) suspect out of Bay County that was aired on Saginaw County Dispatch. While at the gas station, Troopers conducted on the suspect (Gregg Atwood) which matched the description of the subject driving the vehicle. Once the suspect vehicle left the parking lot, Troopers got behind the suspect vehicle and attempted to initiate a traffic stop. The suspect vehicle disregarded our emergency lights and began to flee from Troopers. While following the suspect vehicle with our emergency lights and siren activated, Troopers obtained authorization to pursue the suspect vehicle from Sgt. Kelley. While pursuing the suspect vehicle, the suspect vehicle lost control and ultimately crashed into the side of a house. Call outs were made for the suspect to exit the vehicle but were not successful. A perimeter was created until the Emergency Support Team (EST) arrived on scene. The EST utilized the bearcat and pulled the suspect vehicle out of the house before approaching the suspect vehicle. Once the EST approached the suspect vehicle, they observed the suspect trapped inside. Fire department utilized the jaws of life to remove the front driver side door to remove the suspect from the vehicle. The suspect was removed from the vehicle and transported to McLaren Hospital for a medical evaluation. The suspect was turned over to Bay County Sheriff Department for AWIM charges.
