History of the Forgeworld Style of Painting | Why Horus Heresy Painting is Different

In “A History of the Forgeworld Style of Painting, or Why Horus Heresy Painting Is Different”, we will investigate why the Horus Heresy painting style has always been different. Why does the Forgeworld style of painting focus on weathering techniques, such as chipping, or using pigments? Why isn't edge highlighting as popular in 30k? In order to answer these questions and more, we will look closely at several publications, such as Forgeworld's Imperial Armour Masterclass, or the very first issues of White Dwarf magazine to showcase Horus Heresy models. If, like me, you are a fan the work of current or ex-Forgeworld sculptors and painters like Mark Bedford or Phil Stutcinskas, this video is for you. CORRECTION: at 10'20" I state the the Typhon tank on screen was both sculpted and painted by Phil Stutciskas. I have since been told that the painting was done by Matt Murphy-Kane, another very talented artist who was part of Forgeworld's team at the time. 🎨 Interested in Gaahleri Airbrushes?
