View of the crankcase with the starter motor removed. You can see more clearly where the innermost retaining bolt for the starter motor goes, and why it is so awkward to get to. Using a 1/4 inch drive for the 45 Torx bit really helps. With the starter motor removed you can also just see inside the crankcase and view the starter drive ring on the crankshaft and the clutch assembly. There is no sign of rear crankshaft oil seal failure, which I was pleased about.
