How-to Guide on OKR Scoring: OKRs That Work Part 4 of 6

Build your AI transformation Strategy in 30 Days 🚀 ➝ https://onstrategyhq.com/ai-contact-2/ Let’s go through the process of OKR scoring. How do we score them? OKRs are a methodology for goal setting and managing performance against those goals on a continuous basis (the standard being per quarter). The process begins by assigning a single objective (O) and three to five key results (KR) of how you are going to achieve the objective. OKR scoring has to do with evaluating performance. We are determining how well we’ve progressed on our commitments. Let’s compare where we are versus where we said we would be to complete our goal. We break down evaluating performance in two different ways: 1. Achievement of KRs (taking an average of KR completion) 2. Achievement of metric (ex. are you within 20% of completing your goal?) We’ve put together some essential tips to gauge the OKR scoring process. Where do you want to be by when? KRs do a great job of informing individual performance evaluations but are not the sole metric. Some of your objectives and key results should be aspirational or committed and be clear on which is which. Completing 100% of your OKRs is often unrealistic, but it’s essential to have goals and direction. Plan on achieving about two-thirds of your OKRs. Part of the importance of having OKRs lies in the quality of self-evaluation. How well did you do completing your KRs? Finally, don’t over plan. The notion is to make commitments to a specific time period, so use what you’ve learned from previous periods in future planning.
