Kyokushin Karate Mawashi Geri, also known as round kick or roundhouse kick - is a unique variation of roundhouse kick that is fundamentally different from the way it's executed in Muay Thai, Taekwondo or other Karate styles such as Shotokan or Goju Ryu. It is a snapping technique but optimized for damage - and can be executed with the head as a target from a range shorter than any other variation. It is also the safest variation to use. Reason being compared to other variations of roundhouse kick, it has minimal impact on your posture and balance. The snapping of the lower leg also makes it difficult to catch and hold on to.
