In his photographic-based KALEIDOSCOPES Leo Fellinger plays with different levels of reality, whereby the starting point are always everyday objects, very often also of organic origin. However, reality is repeatedly broken in these pictures - in a play with colour and form, but to a large extent with chance. He prefers to use small, everyday and often inconspicuous things as the basis for his pictures. Only when they are multiplied and symmetrically kaleidoscoped do they unfold their hidden aesthetics, developing into peacock-like creatures that reveal an apparent reality. These two levels - the everyday and the refracted reality - are what make these images so appealing.
