===================================== Please subscribe Benjamin Travel Walk 👉    / @benjaminloke   ===================================== The Grand Palace in Bangkok is one of the most iconic and historically significant landmarks in Thailand. It served as the official residence of the Kings of Siam (and later Thailand) for over 150 years. Construction of the Grand Palace began in 1782 during the reign of King Rama I, shortly after the founding of Bangkok as the capital of the Kingdom of Siam. The Grand Palace complex is an architectural masterpiece, blending traditional Thai styles with influences from other cultures, including Khmer, Chinese, and European. It consists of numerous buildings, halls, pavilions, and courtyards, all adorned with intricate details, vibrant colors, and exquisite craftsmanship. One of the most revered structures within the Grand Palace is the Temple of the Emerald Buddha (Wat Phra Kaew), which houses the Emerald Buddha, a highly revered statue carved from a single piece of jade. The temple is considered the most sacred Buddhist temple in Thailand and is a major pilgrimage site for Thai Buddhists and tourists alike. Today, the Grand Palace is open to the public as a museum and tourist attraction, offering visitors the chance to explore its stunning architecture, learn about Thai history and culture, and marvel at its ornate decorations and artifacts. However, please note that appropriate dress (covering shoulders, arms, and legs) is required to enter the Grand Palace and its temples as a sign of respect.
