Rumble in the Jungle '23 MTB Race | 1st Place 25 Miles | Markham Park

Rumble in the Jungle is a race with 25 or 50 mile option, Solo or Team-relay. The start distance to holeshot was very short this time with no sprint at all; bumped someone slightly at the beginning and let everyone take it in. Plenty of close calls for some people. Fortunately I was able to pass a big group half way through the first lap and after 5 laps I realized I was first place on my category, 11th overall. I signed up (kind of last minute) to the 25 mile Solo. The weather gods helped us. It had been raining all week long and the course was extremely saturated with mud lakes in several areas. Luckily it subsided prior to the race and the course was rerouted a bit to cover for the exceptions.
