Heavy missile launchers with the crit strike mod seem to help a lot with nuking all the operarius that crowd around the boss. The large explosions are also generally useful on all maps for clearing lines of fire with the only downside being friendly fire damage if you're careless. I personally feel that long ranged weaponry is the way to go to avoid taking damage from enemies with ranged attacks. You will still need close defense weapons. Teslas and lasers seem great for this, especially since they don't need to reload. The heavy hitters were railguns with +5 energy boost. Although I would have liked to use the kinetic RoF overclock, I've not been able to get 3 or more railguns to work well with that overclock without overheating. It might be workable if you have pilots with the overheating perk. CIWS is fairly critical. There was one point where the reloads of my mechs synced up and they had insufficient CIWS coverage and took a lot of hits. Passive armor and coating is critical. Use the best armor you have. Weight shouldn't be an issue by the late game when you're running fusion reactors and you can use boosted end-game blue motors.
