After watching Todd and Brent's preview for "Of Sound Mind", I came into the episode dreading Jon's storyline. I had been waiting for ANYTHING that could lead to Jon going to the Fortress and talking to his grandmother like Todd promised us was going to happen MONTHS ago...and he was going to...help the Cushings find Sophie?!?!?!? Didn't sound great. Little did I know...that that storyline would have one of the best Jonathan scenes in a REALLY long time. Literally as I was watching Jon's conversation with Sophie, I SAW this video playing out in my head. I saw all the heartbreaking and beautiful parallels exactly as you see here. It was SO FREAKING CATHARTIC to see Jon FINALLY speak about EVERYTHING the fandom had been saying for YEARS. We've all been ranting about how left out he's been feeling and how A LOT OF THE TIME it seems like his family doesn't give two shits about him...and he finally said that himself. All while inspiring hope. Like the son of the House of El he is. My jaw was on the floor. Tears were in my eyes. I still kind of can't believe this scene happened. As for the song...that came later...but once I went through my own personal Spotify playlist and saw this one (which was on there because there are SO many characters I relate this song to)...I knew I wasn't going to find a more perfect choice. "And no one cares... There's no one there..." All of this isn't even to mention how OVER THE MOON excited I am for "Forever and Always". Our boy FINALLY has a scene in the Fortress where he's speaking to his grandmother (something I had been starting to feel like I'd been lied to about)...and is taking charge to find a way to save his mother.
