“Devi Namaskaraha” By Dr Jayanthi Kumaresh, Sri R Kumaresh and Sriranjani Santhanagopalan

A Musical Navaratri (AMN) 2023 “Devi Namaskaraha”- Devi Namana Stotra by Sage Markandeya It is a profound honor for me to join forces with the maestros, the virtuoso violinist Sri R Kumaresh (Fiddlingmonk) and the esteemed veena exponent Dr. Jayanthi Kumaresh in presenting to you the "Devi Namana Stotram," a segment of Sage Markandeya's "Durga Saptashati." This collaboration marks a poignant moment of completion for me. Beyond being an ardent admirer of their extraordinary music, I fondly recollect the nerve-wracking and yet exciting moments during my participation in the “Carnatic Music Idol” where Sri Kumaresh played a pivotal role as one of the judges. Dr. Jayanthi Kumaresh has been and continues to be a monumental wellspring of musical inspiration for me in terms of elegance, composure, and genuine humility. Her grace, both on and off stage, is a testament to her profound artistry. To collaborate with them in such an intimate creative space is nothing short of a dream! Together, they have masterfully composed the evocative background music for this Stotra. This is a confluence of the verses set in Amritavarshini(A scale) and the melodic soundscape in Vasantha( E scale) expressed through the Veena and the Violin. These verses highlight the omnipresence of the divine mother. While we often attribute qualities like compassion, radiance, and wisdom to the divine, it's crucial to recognize that attributes like power, memory, delusion, anger, and activity, which we experience in our material existence, are also facets of the same divine essence. These verses allude to this profound truth. These annual Navaratri collaborations wouldn't be possible without the support of our generous patrons and the amazing students and their parents of Tapasya.
