Joe Gibbs notched his first (and only, for this season) NFC East win as the forever-rebuilding Redskins defeated the visiting New York Giants in this late season match-up at FedEx Field. The '04 Redskins were notable for spectacular defense, but hogtied by an offense that just couldn't get started.... until this game. The Redskins scored more that 20 points for the first time all season, FINALLY finding their groove in this 31-7 stroll past the Giants. Clinton Portis, Patrick Ramsey and Chris Cooley all had big games. Eli Manning, not so much, as the Giants faint playoff hopes withered away. This would be the first of three wins for the Redskins over the final four games of the '04 season, setting the stage for better things to come for Washington in '05.
