Welcome back fellow aircraft builders and aviation enthusiasts! In this video I talk about rivet layout, spacing and pitch. If you only take one thing away from this video, it should be that you NEVER increase a specified rivet pitch in your blueprints/plans. Increasing the pitch means increasing the distance between rivets. This will DECREASE the number of rivets across a given span, which will reduce the strength of the structure. There are plenty of places where the specified rivet pitch will yield uneven spacing or locations where rivets cannot be placed. Changes in rivet spacing to accommodate more even spacing for aesthetics or to avoid other structures should always err on the side of increasing the number of rivets across a given span, if necessary.
