We thought long and hard about what would be an appropriate Christmas song for us to do, considering the year that we've had. One of our members, Nat, came up with this gem and it absolutely sums up how we feel. We've used some images from lockdown such as clapping for the NHS & Key Workers, empty shelves, Boris at his podium, handwashing/sanitising, rainbows on windows, mask-wearing and the fabulous 'Put Your Bins Out In Your Ballgowns' Facebook group, started by our very own choir member, Angie. We are delighted that we've been able to use a couple of photos, provided by The Captain Tom Foundation, to remind us of his amazing achievements ealier in the year. We were also thrilled to have Sally Phillips and her son, Ollie, join us in the video. Thank you to both of them for giving up their time to film. We are a Community Signing Choir and use the Makaton Language Programme to sign key words to songs. The lyrics have to be carefully interpreted, by the Makaton tutors in our choir, so some of the signs may not match the words exactly but represent the meaning of the lyrics. (See below the for the full translation of the song.) We have been going over a year but, since lockdown, have only been able to meet via Zoom on a weekly basis. Not all of our members have been able to join us on Zoom but several of them contributed a line in this video. We're looking forward to being back together again. This is our sixth 'lockdown' video and we managed to record this video in a matter of days. Credit must go to Elizabeth who, at 15 years of age, is a technical genius and puts together all the videos for us. Once again, she did this one in record time - thank you!
