What a great year it has been for mushroom hunting here in the Pacific Northwest! This summer I've been finding all kinds of mushrooms (from Pacific Golden Chanterelles, to Fiber King Boletes / Porcini, to Hedgehog Mushrooms) unusually early ... in June! Come along with me on a mushroom walk where we look to explore the wonderful world of mycology and other natural phenomena that crosses our path. We'll begin with an early Summer mushroom update from my local lowland PNW forest, and we'll then venture out to the Olympic Peninsula for some snapshots from a fantastic 3-day backpacking trip down the Olympic Coast.
