OSCAR PETERSON (Heir apparent and pride of the north) Jazz History #26

After Norman Granz heard Oscar Peterson in his home town of Montreal and put him on the world stage, Oscar became one of the most celebrated and beloved jazz musicians in all of jazz history. The heir apparent to Art Tatum, Oscar's mastery of the idiom kept him on top of the jazz world for half a century. This video includes an insightful clip of a 1960 CBC interview with Oscar, Ray Brown, Ed Thigpen Phil Nimmons about The Advanced School of Contemporary Music, one of the early organized pedagogical approaches to teaching jazz.
