Turkey is no longer Turkey! It's now officially spelled "Türkiye" as part of the country's effort to establish a more powerful image on the world stage. This change was requested by President Erdogan, who wants other countries to start using the new spelling. In the summer of 2022, the United Nations agreed to the change. The reason behind this move is to distance the country from the bird "turkey" and negative connotations that may be associated with the word.
