This geological wonder is a deep, narrow canyon carved by the Radovna River, which meanders through dizzying rock walls and a landscape filled with lush vegetation. Breathtaking landscape Upon entering the gorge, visitors are immediately struck by the wild and unspoiled beauty of the place. The walls of the gorge, between 50 and 100 meters high, rise steeply on both sides of the river, creating an impressive scene of rocks sculpted by millenary erosion. The Radovna River, with clear, emerald green waters, flows lively, creating a natural symphony with its splashes and gurgling sounds. The force of the water has sculpted a series of natural pools, rapids and waterfalls along the route, offering a dynamic and ever-changing spectacle. Paths and walkways To explore the gorge, visitors take a well-marked trail that winds along the river. The route is enriched by wooden walkways and suspension bridges, which allow you to cross the river at various points, offering different and always fascinating perspectives of the canyon. The walkways were designed to blend harmoniously with the natural environment, offering a safe and comfortable walking experience. The Šum waterfall At the end of the route in the gorge, you reach the majestic Šum waterfall, one of the main attractions. With a drop of approximately 13 metres, the waterfall is an impressive manifestation of the power of nature. Water rushes forcefully off a rocky cliff, creating a cooling mist and a thunderous sound that echoes off the walls of the gorge. It is an ideal place to stop and admire the beauty and strength of nature. Flora and fauna Vintgar Gorge is a microcosm of biodiversity. The damp, shady walls of the gorge are covered in bright green mosses and delicate ferns, creating a soft, vibrant carpet of vegetation. The trees that overlook the gorge, such as beeches and firs, form a canopy that filters the sunlight, creating plays of shadows and lights.
