HOW TO REPAIR CRACKED OR CHIPPED CARBON FIBER | DIY Fix for Damaged Epoxy Resin on Front Lip/Valance

In this tutorial we'll work to fix and repair my damaged, chipped, and cracked carbon fiber front valence and it's epoxy resin finish. #carbonfiber #diy #epoxy #epoxyresin #epoxyrepair #carbonfiberrepair #resinrepair Welcome back to another video where we focus on fixing the carbon fiber on the front lip of my carbon fiber valence on the Datsun 280z! I recently chipped my carbon fiber front valence on a speedbump in a parking lot, luckily the damage isn't awful, so we're really just re-coating the resin on the outside of the carbon fiber. The first thing you're going to want to do is use a box cutter or similar tool to chip away at the delaminated resin that was previously adhered to the carbon fiber. We do this so that we can eliminate an air gap caused by the delamination. Once that air gap has been exposed and now it's just a cavity where resin used to be - we have the opportunity to insert new resin into the space and create a beautiful finish on the carbon fiber. Before moving onto resin, you're going to want to sand down the area to eliminate any sharp edges and wipe clean with isopropyl alcohol. Use the Devcon 5-minute clear epoxy with an paint brush to apply into the tight crevices of the repair. Let harden and get ready for sanding. Wet-sand first with 320 grit or similar to level out the high spots of the new resin, after that, further refine with finer grit sand papers all the way until 2000 grit. 2000 grit sandpaper is what is needed for a shiny finish after polishing. The final step is to polish and admire your beautiful repair. Good luck and have fun in the garage! Devcon 20445 Flow-Mix 5-Minute Epoxy - 14 ml : https://www.amazon.com/Devcon-20445-F...
