Lignano Sabbiadoro developed in the early 20th century starting from some private hospitality resorts, which at the beginning could be reached only by sea. The first permanent inhabitants settled in the area in 1931, after the draining of the nearby marshes. The first road connecting Lignano with the nearby comune of Latisana was built in 1926. Formerly known as simply Lignano, the name Sabbiadoro (from sabbia d'oro "golden sand") was added in 1935 for promotional reasons. It is divided into three zones, each with its own particular traits: the historic centre, rife with shops and restaurants (Lignano Sabbiadoro itself); the greener area of Lignano Pineta, with lovely gardens and lanes for strolling; and Lignano Riviera, the waterfront, rich in salty sea air and coastal pines. Do not strip the leaves from trees and shrubs, not even to feed the animals. Vegetation is an important asset that allows us to stay in the shade and breathe pure air. Do not disturb in any way: shouting, shouting, annoying noises, useless running, music (even at low volume), playing ball, using whistles and megaphones are prohibited! Do not cross the fences as this could be dangerous for you and for the animals themselves. Do not introduce weapons, even toys, sticks, balls and balloons. Do not light fires. Do not bang on the windows and fences, do not throw objects at the animals for any reason, not even to attract their attention, the rhythms of the animals must be respected; don't forget that you are a guest in their home. Do not bring animals of any kind, including dogs or cats (free dog custody). Do not enter with bicycles, skates, skateboards, scooters and vehicles with plastic wheels that make noises that can be annoying for animals (dolls' prams, pickup trucks, etc...). Men are not allowed to enter in swimsuits or bare chested. The Management, at its sole discretion, reserves the right to expel from the Park anyone who behaves that do not comply with the above, without any refund of the entrance ticket. Instead, the following is allowed: Spend a day in close contact with nature without traffic and noise. Learn many things about the world of animals thanks to their presence and a complete and usable poster that describes them. Ask educators in the education department and animal guardians for information; they will be happy to satisfy your curiosities. Visit the Park with strollers and prams for children. Offer the feed present in the dispensers to some animals such as goats and farm animals. Test yourself by imitating the movements of the animals in the appropriate stations. Eat in the bar and self-service restaurant (see the opening periods on the services page) or in the dedicated picnic areas. Make separate collection using the appropriate bins. Choosing to consume less plastic for a cleaner planet: use your bag or backpack to store your purchases, do not ask for a straw at the bar, fill the bottle at the water dispenser. Smoking taking care to throw the butts in the appropriate ashtrays. The entrance ticket does NOT allow you to divide the visit over the course of the day. Any temporary exits may be granted by the staff at the cash desk, at its sole discretion. The staff at the checkout, if necessary, has the right to request an identity document to verify the age of the children. The ticket is NOT refundable or reusable, even in case of adverse weather conditions. Children under the age of 16 are only allowed to enter if accompanied by an adult. The discount or free coupons must be presented at the cash desk before requesting the ticket, under penalty of forfeiture of the same. For the purposes of validity, the "Parco-Zoo" cards and season tickets must be accompanied by an identity document certifying their entitlement to use them. Dogs are not allowed inside the park. The custody in single boxes is available free of charge and while supplies last.
