Blake Stone: Aliens of Gold version 2.10R; DOSBox version 0.74 using max 100% cycles. Cycles only ensure that the game plays at a constant 70FPS and should not be any different than a real DOS computer capable of processing the same frames per second. Timing starts after the "Press a key." dialog closes and ends on the first black frame after the "Great work, Blake!" screen. I'm gonna be honest, this isn't a great run. But it's a good run, and when a game is as unforgiving as Blake Stone, you'll take what you can get. Definitely smacking my forehead at the health grab in the second-last level, it was mostly out of desperation (you'd be surprised how few runs get to that point!). There's a lot of confusing stuff in this run. The weapon used throughout most of the run (Plasma Discharge Unit) is the only way to go fast against the multitude of enemies, which is why I go out of my way to get it early. Triangle/octagon doors are one-way, so you can do some tricks with those. Unlike Wolf3d, keyed doors can't be tricked with an enemy, but you CAN bring keys from other levels, like the gold key I hold onto for most of the run. More important than any of that, though, is that enemies have way too much health and their AI lets them walk around randomly, so I often lose plenty of time making split-second decisions all over the place. That said, it's still the first Blake Stone run I know of. I'll be working on the other episodes in due time, as well. Enjoy!
