The Irishman is one of Scorsese's greatest films and is, in many ways, a spiritual sequel to Goodfellas. The mob story relies heavily on the performances of Al Pacino and Robert De Niro, both superb, but the most memorable performance comes from the legendary Joe Pesci. Pesci portrays Philadelphia mob boss Russell Bufalino and gives Russell a striking presence that the audience can feel even when he's merely munching on cereal.
