What do Common Law LL.M Programs Cost Compared to NCA Self-Study?

In this video, Hirra will be discussing the costs of pursuing a Canadian Common Law LL.M in Ontario that may serve as an alternative route to qualifying for the NCAs Every applicant is individually assessed. Even if you wish to pursue a Canadian Common Law LL.M as opposed to the NCA exams, we strongly encourage you to first apply to the NCA, receive your assessment and then determine whether the NCA route or the LL.M route is a better option for you. Tuition fees are subject to change, as of today domestic fees for 3 terms in Ontario, is around $22, 804.74 -$35, 218.65. Whereas fees for international candidates is around $43,584.18 - $67, 228.65. In addition there is a non-refundable application fee of $125.00-$130.00. When it comes to costs the NCA exam-based option, as discussed in our previous video – estimated fees depending on whether candidates are required to write 5-7 exams can range between $3,800 – $5,000 that’s including estimated fees of NCA study materials as well as exam fee costs. There are other, additional, optional costs as well such as NCA Tutor note packages and private tutoring or group classes. If you are interested in pursuing the LL.M option we encourage you to view the websites below for further admission requirement details. - Osgoode Hall Law School (Ontario): https://osgoodepd.ca/academic-program... - University of Toronto (Ontario): https://www.law.utoronto.ca/academic-... - University of British Columbia (BC): https://www.grad.ubc.ca/prospective-s... - Peter A. Allard Law School (BC): https://allard.ubc.ca/programs/gradua... Note, depending on your NCA assessment you may have been required to do 7 or 10 NCA courses, which may not all be fulfilled through the LL.M program. As such, once you complete the LL.M you may be required to complete additional NCA exams to meet the requirements of the NCA. Which is why we strongly encourage candidates to first apply to the NCA and wait till they receive their NCA assessment to determine which option is best for them.
