Nick & Mabel Longhetti (Peter Falk & Gena Rowlands) Where I First Found You

I've been wanting to make another video based around Nick and Mabel, for some time. I find A Woman Under the Influence, to be a masterpiece of filmmaking. The story can be hard at times to watch, but for whatever reason, you keep watching until the end to see, what will happen with these two characters. I've noticed after I recently rewatched A Woman Under the Influence, that when I reached the end of the movie, I found myself holding my breathe. Which seems impossible, since I'd already been down this road with this movie. But even knowing how the story goes, I was still involved with the rollercoaster ride, of Nick and Mabel's story. Both Gena and Peter found something in themselves, to bring these two characters to life. Mabel's breakdown scene is so heartbreaking and very hard to watch. I can't imagine where Gena was able, to find those emotions in herself. As for Nick, he can be a total jerk and too protective at times. Peter found something in this guy, that spoke to him. I find, I feel sorrier for his character than Mabel at times. He is so out of his realm, with what Mabel needs. Their a bit of an odd couple, Mabel is more artistic, and Nick is more of an average joe. But when they are able to be by themselves, you see and feel, how much in love they are with one another. John Cassavetes was surprised with Peter, when Peter had asked John, he wanted to play Nick. John hadn't written Nick for Peter, like he had written Mabel for Gena. There is a moment where Peter improves in the movie, that is claimed to have almost made John faint. Which I find to be so powerful and beautiful. John was able to give Gena and Peter an environment, to where they both felt comfortable, to be able to do an idea that came to them. Overall, I feel this video showcases Nick and Mabel, in a truer light, than my other video I made about the characters. This probably will be a hard watch, if you're sensitive to the story plot in A Woman Under the Influence. But hopefully, it is a good watch and thank you, for watching!!
