Huacachina is a village built around an oasis located ~5km from the city of Ica. It was originally a naturally formed oasis, but increased well drilling in the region reduced the underground water supply to the lagoon. As such, local business groups have started pumping water in the lake since 2015. Huacachina is also the ADVENTURE CAPITAL of Peru, where you can go for exhilarating dune buggy rides, see the oasis from above by paragliding, and race dune the dunes onboard a sand board or sand skis!
